Mexico is an emerging market with a young population, and one of the most important economies in the world (the 15^th largest). The potential for business growth for Fleet Renting is excellent. As a result, the company is focusing on total mobility rather than purely financing vehicle acquisition, which is what customers are demanding.

Fleet Renting’s target customer base is large multinational corporates, including: healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, food and beverages that typically run fleets of 500-1000 vehicles.

Helping corporate customers save money on transport

Cuenca cites the situation in the federal republic in 2016 concerning pollution. Mexico has some of the most heavily polluted city and urban areas in the world so the government legislated to restrict transportation in and out of Mexico City on certain days of the week.

“It had a big effect on corporates.” Cuenca explained. “They were paying for mobility seven-days-a-week but because of the restrictions only benefiting from two days for business purposes.”

Firstly, Fleet Renting helps customers design the fleet, based on vehicle usage, how appropriate a model is to the purpose of the fleet and what other services are needed to offer complete mobility. This appears to be more important to customers than how much the service costs.

The company then offers access to the best technology to manage the fleet, including telematics, so customers can better plan maintenance and minimize vehicle downtime, plus work around any legislated restrictions, such as those that were mandated in 2016.

Fleet Renting provides a good and easy-to-use service for replacement vehicles, which means drivers are never without transport.

“And last, but by no means least,” explains Cuenca, “we engage with third-party mobility providers to offer customers as many options as are available, such as car sharing, car rides, transport schemes, access to alternative modes of transport (eBikes and so on) so drivers are never stuck.”
